The Lunar and Planetary Institute is pleased to introduce the 2014 - 2015 Cosmic Explorations Speaker Series: "Science" on the Silver Screen. This series will explore the accuracy, and inaccuracy, of science portrayed in the movies. The series will begin September 18, 2014 with a presentation by astronaut and planetary scientist Dr. Stanley Love<http://www.jsc.nasa.gov/Bios/htmlbios/love.html> discussing the 2013 movie "Gravity." Please see the attached flyer for more information regarding this first presentation in the series.

Due to the considerable interest in this series, and due to the seating capacity available at LPI, registration for each presentation in the 2014-2015 series will be required. Registration will open two weeks before each event and is limited to 250. For more information, visit the Cosmic Explorations Speaker Series webpage at http://www.lpi.usra.edu/education/lectures/.

LPI's Cosmic Explorations presentation begins at 7:30 p.m. and will be followed by a light reception. Registration is required. LPI is located in the USRA building at 3600 Bay Area Boulevard in the Clear Lake region of Houston; the entrance is located on Middlebrook Drive. The Lunar and Planetary Institute is part of the Universities Space Research Association (USRA). A shuttle bus will run throughout the event to take attendees to and from their cars. Directions from Bay Area Boulevard: Turn left on Middlebrook Drive and continue 0.4 miles. The UBC parking lot will be on the right, just past Glenshannon Drive. There are plenty of parking spaces available for event attendees, and signs will be posted at the shuttle pickup and drop off location at the north side of the lot.
